Description: Elegant Advertising menu cover featuring the aperitif "BYRRH", which is impossible to pronounce and hard to find in the 21st century. This red leather bound menu holder has embossed silver "BYRRH", logo on cover. The interior has two beautiful original lithographs with exquisite drawings and descriptions of this “Tonique & Stimulant”. "BYRRH" is a secret recipe that is blended from red wine, quinine and 10 other spices and was originally created as medicinal tonic. Found as an ingredient in many French aperitifs, quinine (quinquina or kina) is the bitter condiment, which stimulates production of digestive enzymes and, therefore, the appetite. "BYRRH" was an iconic brand at the turn of the century and many great artists of the day created beautiful advertisements such as this.
