Lately, to our surprise, laminate topped café tables can be seen in many more French cafés than marble topped tables. Certainly, these are not the bland "formica" tables of the 1950's — quite the contrary. Rather, they are lively color statements that enhance the look and feel of the cafés they grace. While there is no perfectly invulnerable product, some of the characteristics of laminate are good resistance to surface wear, temperature changes, cracking, scratching and color changes from light. With French metal rims surrounding them, they have come into their own in the French bistro lifestyle.
